Sometimes 140 Isn’t Enough
I’ve been blogging for a long time now, since my high school days off an on. I’ve used twitter for over a year now. My first tweet was on Apr 14th, 2008. My blogging has changed since I started using twitter. I write less about what I’m actually doing. My actions go on twitter, my thoughts go on my blog. Rarely do I do anything that’s worth writing about. Most of the things can fit in 140 characters. My thoughts, however, don’t. I think a lot, perhaps excessive?
I came across this quote on Albert Mohler’s blog when John Piper joined Twitter and both Joshua Harris and John Piper wrote about Twitter and Church.
You really can share a great deal in a tweet. On the other hand, some things cannot be reduced to 140 characters of text. So don’t try. Tweet on.

They are two different mediums for two different purposes. I enjoy writing in my blog. It makes my thoughts more concrete. I’m forced to verbalize the jumbled matter in my mind and convey it in a way which my reader can follow along. Twitter is good for short quick updates or sharing interesting articles. These two great technologies can both be used side-by-side to accomplish good work.
