Fraud Protection
I ordered a bunch of stuff last night (spending my new found wealth from my stock options). One of my orders were rejected. This morning I received a phone call at 7:15am from Citi Bank alerting me to possible credit card fraud due to ‘abnormal usage’ Apparently I’m not really a baller and don’t spend a grand on a whim. It’s good to know that my credit card company is watching out for me.
In case you’re wondering, I finally ordered the rest of my computer. I had the case sitting in my room since mid-June. I consider this build a low-mid range. Here are the specs with prices after rebates.
- Processor: Intel E6550 2.33ghz : $172
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R : $130
- RAM: Corsair XMS2 2x1GB DDR2 800 Cas 4 timings : $75
- HD: 1 x Wester Digital WD5000AAKS : $110
- Video Card: XFX Geforce 8800GTS 320MB : $256
- DVD: Sony AW-G170A Sata DVD burner : $32
- Case: Antec P180b : $90
- PSU: Seasonic M12 SS-500HM : $130
Total: $995 + SH.
The PSU is probably a bit more than I needed but this part I think I stressed out the most. I sure hope the cables are long enough to reach since the case is a bottom mounted PSU. If I were to have made this into a mid-rang unit, I would have gone with:
- Processor: Intel E6750 : +$38
- Ram: 2x2GB : +$125
- HD: WD7500AAKS : +$80
- Sound Card: X-FI XtremeGamer : +84
Additional: $327
To me, I don’t need the additional processing speed. I’ll probably upgrade my ram to 6GB in the future if the price comes down more (I doubt it will). I’ll probably buy a 500 or 750 gig HD in the near future for my current box as it’ll serve my file server. Eventually I’ll get the soundcard when I’m ready to buy new speakers with it. Hopefully everything goes well when I assemble it and I’ll be finally ready to play all those games I’ve wanted to play.
As a side note: I’m not going to assemble it until I’ve sent out my Missions Report as accountability for me to get that out.
