My Poor Car

March 21st, 2007

Today I come home from work and pull into our driveway and find out our garage door is broken. Our driveway is really steep and I don’t want to back out. It’s hard enough getting out going forwards since I drive manual, let alone backwards. My search is in vain, couldn’t figure out how to get the door open. I call my roommate to come and help me. The plan is to have him watch the street and just gun up backwards. He gets out in the street and watches for cars. I get in and the plan is to put on the emergency brake, rev up the engine and drop the brake and the clutch and peel out backwards. I rev it up, drop the brake, but I don’t release the clutch all the way. So for a couple of seconds, I have my engine rev’d pretty high and I’m riding my clutch. Eventually I realize I needed to let go of my clutch all the way, then I jump out of my driveway. My poor burning clutch! I feel like I took off a couple hundred if not thousand miles off my clutch just then. It seemed different driving around afterwards. The catching point seems a little higher. *sigh* my poor poor clutch. Second time I did this to my car. Stupid driveway makes everything so difficult. Maybe if my clutch goes before my warranty is up they’ll replace it for free. Bah – hope it smells okay tomorrow.
