Who says?

January 31st, 2007

Who says the male body isn’t beautiful to behold? I guess one of the quintessential displays of the male body is the statue of David:

But what about this guy?

He’s the Spartan leader from the upcoming movie 300. Here’s a little blurb I found about their training. “To be up to the arduous shoot, the actors had to train hard, I’m talking Rocky in the woods in Rocky 4 hard. We met the trainer Mark Twight and he revealed that his goal was to have the actors get physically fit, not bulked with useless muscles.” I think that’s the key. These guys aren’t like the ridiculously huge guys at the gym that get big for big’s sake. No, they are the envy of just about any guy who’ll admit it because not only are they cut, but all that power is used for one thing: now throwing up 3 plates in the gym but thrusting a sword through another man’s insides. It’s not beauty for beauty’s sake. It’s purposeful.

Reminds me of my track days. I was in great shape for a purpose: to launch myself 13 feet straight up.

Inspired once again.
