Winter Break
Lots happened during break. Visited relatives, went skiing in New Hampshire but there was no snow
, and hung out with friends. I got to see Manny and Julia, one of my favorite couples. Julia has a surprise
. Played in a Magic tournement – a throw back to my Jr. High days. Participated in a integration session at church – some other college folk and I talked to the Jr Highers about how to have a good experience in Youth Group. I can’t believe it’s been a decade since I was in Jr. High. Tomorrow I leave for OIL.
One highlight of this break has been watching the TV Series Friday Night Lights. I really like this series. It talks about about relationships, expectations, the pressures to succeed, family issues, and so many other issues. The characters are deep and the series does a good job at portraying emotions and the internal struggles of the characters. I’m almost done w/ all the episodes online and am glad they’ll be continuing the series despite low ratings. Most people would probably look at FNL and say it’s just about football but football is just the illustration the author uses to address important issues and principles. The TV series is much fuller and goes alot deeper into issues and the characters than the movie (which are based on the same event). I would highly suggest watching Friday Night Lights if you’re into excellent character development and shows that talk about serious issues.
