It’s the immutable law. Hitting wins games, Pitching wins championships.. Steinbrenner is too retarded to grasp this. He’d rather get guys that will hit 30 HR’s and 100 RBI’s than invest in young arms. They have one starting pitcher under the age of 30 and is it a surpise that he’s the only one who won a game in the playoff series? Moose is good but he’s too old now. Randy Johnson’s washed up. He’ll throw a gem once every 10 games. 10% chance he’ll win that one game you need him to in the series. .1% he’ll throw the 3 gems you’ll need to win a ring. Wright’s done, Pavano was a waste, Kevin brown was an utter bust. You can’t complain about hitting when you lose the last two games 6-0 and 8-3. The average baseball game is won 5-3 so if you can keep your opponents to 3 runs, good chance you’ll win. Honestly, I didn’t think the Yankees could win World Series. I thought they could beat the Tigers, but that’s about it. They just don’t have the starting pitching to go anywhere. You’re not going to hit double digit runs every game so don’t expect to win like that. How about they keep Torre, jettison Steinbrenner, start playing small ball again instead of long ball, and load up on some young talented arms. These 30+ pushing 40 y/o guys just ain’t cutting it (unless their name is Roger Immortal Clemens). Keep Torre cuz I bet as soon as you cut him, someone’s gonna grab him and you’ll wish you kept him.
