Comes at a Price
While we were in Guangzhou, we ate with my grandfather’s younger brother and one of his older sisters. Sook Gong, his younger brother is a kidney doctor and his wife is a sports therapist. They work in Guangzhou, HK, and another city. They’re pretty rich, taking us to a nice restraunt. Now I don’t know too much about my grandfather. I do know that he owned 4 laundramats and apartment buildings in the Boston area. Since then he’s sold off his laundramats and given the apartment buildings to his children (one for each of them). But what if he stayed in China. His brother became a doctor. What could he have been if he stayed in China? I’m sure he gave up a very respectable lifestyle to travel to the US. I know it cost them alot and they had to go through alot to get here. He gave up so much for his family, for my family. It cost him alot to give his family a better life.
