The Other Christmas Story

May 3rd, 2006

It was a Silent Night. Away in a Manger, a Commando steals silently into Enemy territory. (Lk 2:7) He doesn’t come with much fanfare. No trumpets, no royal processions. He’s a man on a mission and the Enemy doesn’t want him coming and will do anything to stop him. About a click away, his men are gaining the support of the locals. (Lk 2:8-14) If you want a commotion, you go for big names but if you want a revolution, you go for the hearts of the people. Our Hero’s come to set his people free from this World. (Mt 1:21) But the Enemy isn’t sitting around with his hands folded. When he hears of the infiltration, he sends his spies to report. (Mt 2:8) When they don’t return, he dispatches his troops to slaughter anyone who might be our Hero. (Mt 2:16) Our Intrepid Savior wastes no time and escapes. (Mt 2:13) He goes dark for 30 years, training and preparing for the battle that will ensue. (Lk 2:40)

This is the story we are a part of. It’s a story of blood and rebellion. It’s a story that starts with the fragrance death (Mt 2:11) and the wailing cries of babies dying in the night (Mt 2:16). It?s a story of a Man come to set his people free from the clutches of the Enemy. (Jn 8:32) It?s an all out war for the hearts and souls of men. There is a war that wages all around us, do not be deceived. (Jas 1:16)

They will make war against the Lamb,
but the Lamb will overcome them because
he is Lord of lords and King of kings
? and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.

Rev. 17:14
