Anticipation
It’s 8 am. Didn’t really sleep well because I had a nightmare about my dad drafting Randy Moss first followed by a mix of RB’s and WR’s and Matt Leinart and that was it for my fantasy football draft. Anyways, in streamed two excited kids, my niece and nephew proceeded to wake me up vigorously shaking me to wake up and open presents. We walk downstairs, drank some coffee, mingled w/ the rest of the relatives. We still have to wait for more people to come over but then it begins, the tearing, paper flying, Thanks Yous!, and other noises and messes that accompany 15 people opening gifts. The kids have that look of anticipation on their face as they tear open their gifts and open boxes. They wait in anticipation to see what they received for Christmas and have a thankful, happy look on their face as they eye the gift/toys/money they received. But you know, the happiness is short lived. They’ll grow out of their clothes, their toys, and spend their money. Then they’ll have to wait till their next birthday/Christmas for that happiness to come back.
It’s w/ that same anticipation I wait for Heaven with that I can’t wait, wake everyone up early, Let’s go! Let’s go! attitude. But instead of receiving something that will break, wear out, be stolen, I will receive something eternal that will last forever. A joy that will be never be taken away and I will see my Savior and Friend face to face. Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus come!
