Clarification
Before you go out and try to figure out what I’m talking about, please read this. Otherwise you’ll judge me and be even more stumbled.
CFC is my church. I’m a member of CFC and believe in our vision and ministry. I support our church and do I can to be a part of it. I do believe that CFC is not perfect. It is run by imperfect people, has imperfect people in charge (me) and has imperfect members (me). As such, I don’t agree with everything CFC does or says. While I’m here, I serve under their rules. I don’t believe what CFC says is unbiblical, I just have a difference of opinions.
I recently found out a social networking webservice allows you not only post pictures, but link people to those pictures. Some of my friends from Maryland have linked me to pictures from our social gatherings. I thought about unlinking myself from these pictures because they could be construed as “incriminating”. After thinking about it, I decided to let it be. I’m not ashamed of what I do or have done, though I did learn some lessons the hard way and would definately do things differently now that I’ve learned. Now I’m no hedonist or drunkard but I do think it’s ok for Christians to drink so long as their drinking does not lead to their sin or anyone else’s. That’s the catch, getting drunk is a sin, the things that you say or do while under the influence can be sin, your being drunk can lead to other people sinning by being stumbled or influenced in negative ways. I don’t drink to get drunk, I don’t drink by myself, I don’t drink to relieve stress. If I do drink, it’s purely social and it’s usually only one. I go out with my friends, I’ll go to the bars w/ my friends, but I won’t do all the things they do, play the games they play, go certain places they go, or consume what they consume. Salt has to come into contact with food for it to be of any good. We are the salt of the earth and we must do so in a wise way.
CFC doesn’t allow its servants to drink for the maximum edication of others. 1 Corithians 10:23-33 is the biblical basis for the view that we as leaders are publicially visible by a church that has members from all sorts of backgrounds so we need to act in a way that will not cause other people to stumble. When I am here, I’ll conduct myself in a way that will edify others (at least I’ll try). When I leave here, I’ll conduct myself in a way that will edify others (or atleast not cause them to stumble). For the most part, I believe I am conducting myself in a wise way. Before you judge me or critize me come talk to me and hopefully you’ll understand my point of view or correct me if I’m wrong.
