Job fair
Engineering Job fair is coming up. I’m working on my resume. I really hate all this applying, resume, interview stuff. I’m not good at it. I don’t know why I got the coop I got, except by the grace of God. Praise God it was in his soverign plan for my life because I fee like I’d be in the same boat as everyother job 5th year I know. I feel that everything is so formalized with companies. I guess they do need proper procedures to go through so many applicants. I just feel they should just know because you can look good and proper for your interviews, you can have a nice resume stuffed with technical jargon formatted and phrased to make you look like royalty, but really, you’re just some average joe like the rest of this world. You just have the “skills” to get hired. I feel that my work should speak for itself. GPA’s don’t lie, work experience doesn’t lie. You can tell a man by what and who he invests. If I need a suit to impress some big-shot campus interview, I don’t want to work in that kind of environment. You’re hiring a person, not a $300 suit. From my all-time favorite movie: “You’re not your khakis.” You aren’t the clothes you wear. Companies I’m interested in are Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Cisco, VMWare – just cuz I like their software, maybe I’ll just talk to them. The one company I’d like to talk to who won’t be there is Booz-Allen-Hamilton. Anyone know way to find a list of all government contractors who’d like a recent college grad that comes w/ certain gov’t privileges?
