Are you not entertained? – Maximus
I was hanging out w/ some people in the tunnels tonight (the sun hasn’t come up yet so it’s still Sunday) and one of them was browsing xangas. Another one asked me if I still posted to my xanga. Then that person said oh wait, you do, I just don’t read them because they’re too long. We went on to discuss how people read posts with pictures and other fun stories or ones that are short. This reminded me of the idea of consumerism. How the consumer attitude is prevelant in what people are attracted to. They want something that will entertain them, something that pleases them. That’s why people like short posts because they don’t have to use their mind to read. They like pictures b/c we’ve become a visual generation, unable to use our imagination. All this, my posts are not. I’m not out to entertain you with funny stories or nice picture of people you don’t know. Maybe once in awhile but I see this as a forum to voice my opinion, to share my thoughts, and to offer you a glimpse into my life and mind and share a little bit with you. I’d rather read a post that has some content to it. That tells a little bit of who you are and your character. I’d rather get to know you than what you did. This isn’t here to entertain you, to give you a little laugh or a nice enjoyable break. It’s for those who care to know a little bit more about me and what’s going on in my life and hopefully pray for me. Haha – saying it like that makes me sound so selfish – it’s all about you getting to know me deeper. Atleast it’s (hopefully) redeemable. For now, enjoy.
