Dorm Ministry

August 24th, 2005

I was going to write up my thoughts on why our dorm ministry is lacking but decided against it because it doesn’t really serve much of a purpose. If you’d like to know my ideas on why CFC’s dorm ministry is weak, let me know and I’ll share my ideas with you. I think they’re pretty sound. However, what I do wish to share is that even though our dorm ministry is weak and we are fundamentally disadvantaged to dorm outreach, all is not lost. I was really encouraged by what Andy shared the other night at the Area BrainStorming session. The first order of business to restoring dorm ministry is to STAY IN THE DORMS. It’s incredibly difficult to reach out to people if you don’t live there. We need to stop the flow of people, esp. upperclassmen to apt. We are losing incredible ministry opportunities due to this. Additionally, we need to teach and train our underclassmen this. We need to be vision-casters and instill in them a heart for the lost and to reach out to their floormates. Then we need to teach them to train underclassmen as they grow older. We need this progessive teaching of outreach in CFC otherwise, history will repeat itself and CRH will once again become the mission-field as it is slowly turning reverting to. Guys, let’s get serious about our area. Take action and pray!
