My car busted yesterday. It was sitting in our driveway when the rear windshield exploded. By the looks of it, it seems that the air inside the car got too hot and popped out blowing the rear window out making a car in it so when it broke b/c of the door being closed, glass buckled out. My sister has pictures that I’ll post later. And we’ve had all this other car trouble in the past two days w/ my sis minivan breaking down at work, and my dad’s trucking needing to be in the shop. The guys prayed for our family problems last night during small group but God has other plans. I took the car in this morning to get fixed. I called ahead of time to make sure they had the parts. Well, I get there and they’re having problems with the two people ahead of me so I have to wait 1 and half hours. Then they take a look at my car and 15 minutes later, tell me they can’t fix it b/c they don’t have the molding to keep the window in place. They say they’ll look to see if they have one in stock, well, after 15 minutes of them sitting on their butts, I go in and check, and then they go look. 15 minutes later, nope, no molding. So I ask if they can do it with the current one, they guy goes and tries. 20 minutes laters, he comes back and says he tried and couldn’t. Then I ask if they could atleast clean out the glass so we can put something over it at home. 20 minutes later they bring out my car, they removed the molding, put rust proofing along the edge, vacuumed the inside, and left a bunch of small scratchs and scuff marks along the edge and the trunk. They can’t order the window till Monday, but the guy was nice since I was sitting there for 3 hours only to have my window and glass cleaned out. They’ll overnight the molding and he said they’ll get me first thing either tuesday, wed., or thursday and I get priority. Fortunately the car’s still drivable and it’s not raining, and I can keep the car in the garage, since our minivan’s in the shop. Hopefully I’ll be able to bring the car in on Tuesday or latest Wednesday. Until then, we don’t really want to drive it around since it is missing a rear window and anyone can drive in. Atleast I have a car to drive to VBS w.
Onto some good news: I won today’s Magic Sealed Deck tourney. I’ll bore you with the details. I swept Dave Wong, Brian Tam, and Steve Fang 2-0 each, tied JDC 1-1, and beat Wey 2-1. I had alot of games where I came from behind to win. The reason was, I had so many answers. I had 3 arrests that rendered creatures useless, 2 Glissa’s for artifact removal which was huge cuz it was mirrodin, spikeshot goblin, pro-artifact creatures and an assortment of creature removal. I won by rendering their board useless and pounding them. It was pretty fun but I think my deck totally outclassed some of theirs. I had no real “winner” card that I relied on which made my deck much more reliable than theirs and I had so many answers with creature and artifact removal. It was a good time, I won 6 bucks and Steve sponsored me. So by cards from Steve cuz he bought 10 dollars of mine.
We ate dinner at Atlanta Bread Comp. and Wey, JDC, Becky, and I played Risk at my house afterwards. The game lasted 10 rounds, which I think is about right for a more conservative non-mission based game. It basically came down to Wey controling SA and fighting for NA, Becky holding Africa, JDC fighting to hold Europe, and Tim holding Australia. Wey made the first big move when the cards hit 25. He took NA, SA, and Northern Africa but lacked the power to take wipe out a player. JDC played his cards for 30 and took Europe and Greenland fortifying his areas. Becky played 35 and tried to wipe me out but stalled out infront of Australia, not even able to break in giving me the 2 extra. I then played my cards for 40 and wiped out Beck taking Australia, Africa, and most of Asia, but also her cards which I had to cash in for 45 more guys. which I proceeded to put in North Africa. Wey would have gone next and only had gotten 6-7 guys, he didn’t have enough cards for a buy out. He might have been able to take one terrority, two at most. JDC had no cards and his fortified troops were all over so couldn’t have done much, may break up my africa hold and take some of Asia back. My 45 troops would have demolished Wey running through SA and into NA. I would have taken his cards and on the next turn, had enough to pile through JDC since he couldn’t have played cards. What really happened was Wey left before Becky could wipe me out, Beck failed, I wiped her out, got all my guys and JDC and Becky gave me the game cuz they saw I woudlda won. Yay! I won risk too. Atleast I won 2-3 today but lost the most important to the car shop.
