Sinning till I’m Broke

October 4th, 2004

I was gonna post this like awhile but now’s good too, right? I was going to be something superficial and something that happened but as it was superficial, I forgot it. Wasn’t that important. ANYWAYS.

If you didn’t know, your servants and coservants have to read through the Bible before the beginning of 2nd semester. (Encourage them so they’re not reading it all over winter break.) I’m currently in the beginning of Leviticus and I’m getting insights out of it. When you read the Bible with a Redemptive History perspective thinking that OT points to Christ, it’s really interesting. All those sacrifices, it’s SO bloody. They’re like filling basins with blood. Sprinkling it on the altar and themselves. Slaughtering lambs, goats, bulls, … there’s alot of dying going on. Makes me think of The Passion. ‘nough said if you’ve seen the movie. Another point was why they had to make the sacrifices. They had sacrifices for everything and more. Even if you sinned and you didn’t know it, you had to make a sacrifice. Now I know I sin alot, but I probably sin even more without knowing it. If I were an Israelite, I would have to make a sacrifice for each one. That’s a goat, sheep, dove, whatever each time. I think I’d drive myself broke. There wouldn’t be enough animals for the amounts of time I screw up, whether I know it or not. This made me SO grateful for the one time sacrifice of Christ, otherwise I don’t think I’d ever leave the temple. As soon as I’d left, I’d probably have to go get another goat and sacrifice it.

Your grace still amazes me.
