Review: Spring Break

April 6th, 2004

Spring Break started this past Friday and it’s been packed with goodness and even more to come. Here’s the break down:
3/19:
After 232 exam: NCAA basket ball, dinner, basketball @ impe, Jarlings, Bruce Almighty @ Charles’, chill for a lil bit. Sleep
3/20:
Drive up to Chicgao w/ Charles, Angela, and Qbert. Lunch with John Lee and Angela at Portello’s, Chill w/ Angela at the airport, Fly home, search for 30 minutes for my luggage, come home, Mom cook some instant noodles + soup. Watch Chicken Run w/ ‘rents, sleep.
3/21:
Call JDC to get him to goto church, goto church, get blessed, Saw Ollie and Qbert. Went to Tofu Pot w/ everyone. Poker at Ben’s w/ da boyz, (was up $1 but left early so left even.) Dinner w/ family, Ollie, and Qbert @ noodle chu’s. shopped at Maxims, Chilled at Wey’s for a bit, saw Starsky and Hutch w/ Ollie, Qbert, Tina 2x, come home to a broken NCAA bracket. Stupid Kentucky.
3/22:
Wake up, Dive to Ollie’s, drive to Mitsuwa Marketplace for some Japanese food, grocery shopping, and mangas. Goto Willowbrook- bought a new pair of running shoes (finally), 2 polo t-shirts for $22 from Old Navy, wanted a white tie but remembered I have a gift certificate to Macy’s so I’ll buy it later- still looking for some nice jeans that don’t cost 80+ or 150+ like those Diesel Jeans, went to a chinese restraunt that had the exact same menu as Hunan (I’m pretty sure) went back to Ollie’s to chill for a bit, then came back home (and am writing up this post).
3/23:
Went to the dentist, waited for like 30 minutes, had my mouth made clean, ate lunch, brushed teeth, attempted to fix my desktop, went shopping’ w/ sis- bought Olive-Green shirt from ExpressMen, Jeans, White tie, and Red t-shirt from Macy’s, attempted to fix my computer again, dinner, found out that XP STILL won’t work on my computer (even with a fully functionaly & clean install), ate dinner, brushed my teeth, looked at my tax form and saw how easy it was (with TaxCut and having all the information on hand), went to Wey’s and watched QE and Family Guy- the guy on QE messed up a bit and his girl didn’t give him a break at all. She blatantly complained and expressed her dislike while he tried his best. What a jerk! But it was funny to see him fumble around setting up, but seriously, she sucked. Oh yeah, she was Korean btw. (back to my spring break), figured out plans for tomorrow, brushed teeth, went to bed.
3/24:
woke up, picked up Ollie and Qbert, drove down to Princeton almost hit a car that swerved into my lane while turning, met up with Scotty Grenzyck (or something :P also known as Freakazoid!), lunch at this expensive korean/japanese restraunt with TTHa (Ted Ha), took random pictures around campus, went to Princeton Art musuem, fell asleep waiting for Qbert’s friend Michelle, talked with her a bit while we ate free cake and juice, drove to Jon’s house almost broadsided a car that decided to turn left with barely enough time, got lost en route to Jon’s house, ate dinner at Jon’s house, saw Hidalgo (movie review posted), chilled, slept.
3/25:
woke up, ate bread, rode train to NYC, met up with Geoff, ate lunch at East Buffet in Flushing, played in Central Park, peed in Plaza Hotel, went to see the Soup Nazi but he wasn’t in, went to Time Square, saw the Sony Musuem (for free), ate dinner in ChinaTown (Big Wongs), dessert at Ferrara’s (good canole’s) managed our way to Soho/East Village for Bubble Tea at Jenny’s. (between 1 & A Ave on St. Marks), took train back to Jon’s house. Watched the end of the WakeForest, St. Joe’s game (my bracket’s done).
3/26:
woke up, drove back home, got lost by Newark, got home, ate Cluck-U wings with Qbert, attempted the 232 MP, just surfed on the web and chilled with Qbert, ate Fillet Mignon and Chicken for dinner, (Mad good cuts of meat), went to YG and played various games, I made it across the Grange playing something similar to octopus w/ the octopus blindfolded, went to Apple Bee’s and got my usual Kiwi Lemonade w/ no ice, and a basket of wings and watched UIUC lose to Duke, at least it was pretty close for most of the game, then went home.
3/27:
woke up, finished packing, went to the airport, found my flight was cancelled but Qbert’s wasn’t, missed my ride to Champaign, called Aaron to get a ride/place to stay, was at the airport from 9am EST to ~5:20 CST so that’s like 9 hrs including flight time and time difference, I finished reading Evidence Not Seen, missed a good opportunity to share the gospel on the plane (Everything in me was screaming to do it but I just couldn’t, why am I so weak?) went to a guitar store that was closed, got some donuts (including a free one) at Krispy Kreme, ate take out Chinese food curteousy of teh Yaoster’s mom (good lobster), saw all but the final minute of the nail bitter Ok St. vs. St. Joes, watched some TV, I napped while Jon and Yaoster watched Temple of Doom, then hit the sack.
3/28:
woke up, went to church, their church has quite an interesting design, saw Jermz, ate at Portello’s again, and drove back to school. What a packed Spring break!

Insights: It was a fun filled spring break. Did a lot things, had alot of fun. It was, unfortunately, a rough spring break spiritually. I didn’t get up early to pray, I didn’t do my QT’s everyday, I struggled with sin while I was at home, It was just plain hard being at home not really doing anything or doing too much. I like routine, it keeps me accountable and easier to manage. But, it was a good spring break, one of the very few I have left. If I didn’t get to see you during spring break, I’m sorry. I just didn’t have that much time. There were people I wanted to see but couldn’t, and people to see but didn’t. Wish I got to see Steve before he went back to school. Didn’t really get to meet up with Dave. Probably saw too much of Ollie :P But it’s all cool. Hopefully I’ll see people during Memorial Day Retreat, like the only time in the summer I’ll “be back”. The only other time will be at the end of summer and during random weekends if I plan to go home from Maryland.

Princeton is boring. Nothing to do there. Yeah, tiny campus, and very mixed architecture. NYC was alright, seems like we didn’t do much. Walked/ rode the subway alot. It was a good time chillin’ w/ Taft, Ollie, Qbert, and Geoff. Jon’s mom’s cool. I can now see what P.Jung was talking about with What goes in, comes out. It seemed like all she talked about was us eating, waking up, and how our spiritual lives are going and what we’re doing at school. I thought it was hard to imagine someone like that, I guess not … I wouldn’t mind a wife who always had her mind on things above. I’d need my mind to be set like that also. Something to work towards.
Nice Jeans cost SO much. I was looking for a pair with the nice yellow stains and faint but visible whiskers. (I don’t know the official terminology) The only ones were expensive. Mine were like $30 and they had nice stains. Ties are another thing. Was (and still am) looking for a nice blue stripped ties. They had one for $28 but max I want to spend is $20. Why can’t the cheap companies copy the patterns? It’s not that hard, seriously. It doesn’t even need to feel that good. Who’s going to feel my tie besides myself? Seriously. And I was looking for a nice stripped shirt, but 1) I couldn’t find any within my price bracket < $20, and 2) I don't think I can wear stripped shirts yet. doesn't seem me. When when I get old like my dad :P
.

It was really good talking to Angela and see what’s going on with her. I don’t really know her too well but it’s exciting to see how God’s shaping her and using the women of Snyder. I actually support her for moving to ABEL now knowing how much she loves it at Snyder. It’s been greating hanging out with Oliver and Qbert, just wish I got to spend more time with my friends here but everyone’s going back to school or has work … I’m sorry guys.
